From The Vicarage Library – Chums by Simon Kuper

Wednesday, 1 May 2024

I have finally started reading again! The first book that I finished was Alexander McCall Smith’s The Miracle at Speedy Motors. I really needed something lighthearted.

Last week saw me finish Chums by Simon Kuper. Kuper is a journalist with the Financial Times.

The book is about how interconnected the world of the Oxford elite and British politicians is.

If you are frustrated with the present British government then you need to read this book! You will soon realise that these politicians who have been to elite schools and who are considered to be the creme de la creme are not clever after all because they hardly learn anything except the art of waffling.

Did you know that there has never been a British Prime Minister who has been to Cambridge?

Kuper who is from Oxford himself is fair in his criticism. This is an easy read.
