Everyday In The Vicarage Is Eventful!

It was only when I had turned to check the time that I had realised that I had dozed off the moment my head hit the pillow – it rarely happens! The time was 10.57pm. Just as I was getting myself comfortable to doze off again the power went off!

Power cuts in the summer don’t last for very long. They usually come back on within minutes. Just then the vicar turned. I mumbled that there was a power cut only for me to realise that he was snoring gently!

The whole room went pitch black which made me feel claustrophobic. I shut my eyes tightly and went to bed. I woke up on hour later and realised that the power was still off. I needed the loo but decided to hang on for a bit as it would be pitch black outside the room too.

The next time I woke up it was about 3am and the power was still off. I needed the loo super urgently so used my mobile phone light to guide me to the loo. I always have my wee torch by the bedside but couldn’t find it when I needed it!

We had friends coming for lunch the next day and I was starting to fret. What if the power doesn’t come back on by the morning? I won’t be able to cook the quiche…. all the food in the freezer will begin to thaw… blah blah blah…

I only nodded off again after the power came back on at about 5am!

When we woke up for good, the vicar told me after checking his mobile phone that we had a powercut! He had received a message from the power restorers!

The good news is that we had a lovely time with our friends. That evening the power went off again!

I Did It Again!

My mind reading streak continued…… I had predicted to the vicar that the now ex vicarage cleaner will be in contact and lo and behold she did try to contact me. My experience with my previous cleaner taught me the hard lesson that I must insist on a clean break because sadly after taking her back, she went on to let me down big style!

In other news, the window glazier finally put in an appearance yesterday and the Ocado grocery was delivered this afternoon so I am all set for tomorrow’s light lunch!

Mind Reader

In recent times, I have began to wonder if I am a mind reader as I am able to predict things quite accurately!

A few weeks ago, I mentioned to the vicar that I was getting the feeling that the vicarage cleaner will throw in the towel at some point. Why did I think that? I was basing it on a few tell tale signs that I had observed. Guess what? She quit the next week! She came in one day and said that her arthritis was playing up and so won’t be able to continue!

I Hate Surprises*!

Just as I was sitting down to have my breakfast this morning, the vicar sprung a surprise on me! Some friends were planning to drop by to see us. Great I thought but when I heard that they were coming this Saturday I didn’t think that it was that great! I have already finished my grocery shopping for the week and because we shop for two, I will struggle to produce even a simple lunch!

I didn’t want to be difficult and so have said that we will sit down for a simple lunch with our friends. I just need to do another grocery shop with Ocado!

*Its not that I don’t like surprises. I just like a bit of warning.

ps: Still no sign of the window glazier!

What Does A Sexton Do?

Recently, the vicar and I were chatting over dinner about his day when he told me about a conversation that he had had with a group of his parishioners earlier in the day. He was telling them about his troubles with a sexton when someone confessed that they didn’t know who or what a sexton was/did!!!!

For the uninitiated among my readers, a sexton is a grave digger.

This week, someone decided that they will park in our driveway without permission and deprive the rightful visitor to the vicarage a parking space. I really don’t know what gives them the right to park in a PRIVATE driveway! What audacity!

Unusual Follower

When I first started blogging, I was obsessed very interested in my new followers. Needless to say that these days I am not that diligent. I do make an effort to visit their blog at some point and read some of their blog posts. At the moment my mind is preoccupied with family matters and so some days I seem to operate on autopilot mode. Ideally, I would like to be relieved of this heavy burden instead it just seems to be dragging on.

I digress….. back to my unusual follower…. I was first notified of this new follower towards the end of last week and was a little bemused by the name of the blog which was God! I had to do a double take.

Based on what I know from the Holy Scriptures, the God that I worship has got no need to follow me on WordPress. He is someone who knows my thoughts even before I put pen to paper!
